Christmas...the most wonderful time of year

I love Christmas! This weekend Amanda and I decorated the house and this year I put lights outside. I kept it pretty simple (or at least I thought). I lined the sidewalk with lights on stakes. However, I was short a set of lights and stakes for the lights so it required a trip to Target, Home Depot and Lowe's to get all the rest of the stuff. We decided to put of two trees, a formal one downstairs in the “Piano Room” and one sentimental tree upstairs in the game room aka “Fun Room”. Amanda did an amazing job decorating the formal tree; it looks like something out of a pottery barn store, amazing stuff. Summer seems to enjoy the lights around the house.

trashy candy

Why do we have to suffer through the myriad of trash fruit flavored candy to get to the good fruit candy? You look at a typical starburst or skittles pack and it seems that 70% of the pack is trash fruit flavored. Take lemon for example the saying goes if someone hands you lemons make lemonade which is the only thing good that comes from lemons. Why can't they make a all berry flavored pack? Do they thing the other "fruits" will get jealous?

weekend warrior

So Amanda started back to work this past week which left me with Summer all weekend. All in all it went pretty well in other words I survived. We didn't always see eye to eye (she's only 21" tall) but we managed to compromise (she got her way) but it was a life lesson, I showed her how to be the bigger person (we won't say how big).

I did get her to laugh for the first time, we spent a good ten minutes doing that. Stay tuned the video might show up soon.

summer vacation

We had a very long weekend in Florida. Summer did really well on the plane sleeping both to and fro. She was quite the trooper because everytime she woke up she was someplace new. Amanda was the Matron of Honor in a college friend's wedding that was on the beach in Daytona. Needless to say the weather didn't cooperate so the wedding was on the top floor of the resort overlooking the ocean. It was quite a view to be sitting there being able to watch the waves roll in while listening to the vows.

Summer got to meet her great grandparents and many aunts, unlces, and cousins. She really enjoyed meeting the twins shee cooed as they sang her songs. After 5 long days it's nice to be back home in Texas.

hello world

Why is that every sample program shows you how to build a hello world application? Can't we come up with something new and refreshing already or are all the guys writing the books a bunch of lemmings that say to themselves "I know let's show people how to make a message box say 'hello world'". I just wish people could use a bit more humor especialy when it comes to techincal writing, but i guess tha'ts why they're technical writers because let's face it if they wanted to write with humor they'd have a better job.
